Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book studies the work of Agnes Weston, Mrs Meredith, and Sarah Robinson, the latter of whom was also known by the moniker 'The Soldiers' Friend'. It discusses the motivations and challenges facing these women who, in a time when societal concerns were far removed from those of today, dedicated their lives to improving the wellbeing of soldiers, both socially and spiritually. The author has explored the impact of their initiatives, highlighting how the trio were able to use their compassion and strong will to break down social barriers, with Robinson in particular overcoming her own personal demons to excel in her work, using her experiences to make the world a better place for those who served and sacrificed for their country.
