A collection of historical materials about Highland Township, Vermillion County, Indiana. The first fifty or so pages include some general history; details on each of the historic school districts; a list of Perrysville High School alumni (including classes of 1868, 1871 and most of the years from 1884 to 1924); a list of the earliest land owners (1821-1837); plat maps of varying legibility for the years 1872, 1909 and 1926; information on churches; a list of fallen heroes (recorded 1896), lists of some of the physicians, postmasters (Rileysburg, Perrysville, Gessie), and Gessie ministers (U.B. & E.U.B.); cemetery burials; names in the 1912 Perrysville telephone directory; and photographs of historic homes. Pages 56-110 provide a chronology of events and granular news items culled from local newspapers, 1824-1923. Pages 111-249 provide an alphabetized list of names for Perrysville and Highland Township as they were recorded in U.S. censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. Earl R. Storms (b. 1940) graduated from Ball State University in 1966, and held graduate degrees from Purdue and Indiana State. He was a school teacher in Perrysville and, for a time, the owner-publisher of the Herald-News (Cayuga, Ind.). He inscribed the book to Gene Daniels, who appears to have been born in 1923 and raised in both Highland Township and the Perrysville/Covington area. Signed by Author(s).
