Part II, Read February 7th 1884. Large 4to ( 290 by 220 mm). Part I, Pp. 1-77, with plain lithograph plates 1-24; Part II, Pp. 77-152, with plain Lithograph plates 25-45. Faint toning to page and plate edges. Small oval purple institutional ink stamp to top blank edges of 3 text pages and one plate in part I, and I text page in part II, otherwise in very good clean bright condition. **. An important study with detailed plates and the descriptions of many new species. This is parts 1 and 2 only (of 6) with 45 plain plates. There would have been a total of 6 parts issued between 1883 & 1888 with 65 plates in total. **. Rev. Alfred Edwin Eaton (1845-1929) was an English clergyman and entomologist. He served as the vicar of Shepton Montague in Somerset. His main interests among insects were the Diptera and Ephemeroptera (wiki).

    Hardcover. Flowers and Ferns of America, from original water-color drawings after nature by ISAAC SPRAGUE, C. E. Faxon, and J. H. Emerton. Descriptive text by Hervey and Danial Eaton. With extracts from Longfellow, Whittier, Bryant, Holmes. In two volumes, including 20 color plates in volume one (ten are the flowers of forest and field), volume two has ten colored plates of the flowers and 15 plates of ferns. The spines have been replaced with heavy blue library tape and need to be professionaly repaired. Other than the ruffled edges of the title page of volume one, the contents and color plates are in clean crisp beautiful condition. These two heavy volumes require insurance and extra S&H charges.
