The first and most significant of the manuscripts focuses on the Échelles du Levant, which were trading posts in the Middle East and North Africa belonging to the Ottoman Empire but affording privileges to French merchants. À Lyon, chez Bruyset ainé et Buynand, an XIII = 1805, reliures d'époque plein cuir avec pièces de titre et décors dorés aux dos, environ 20.5 X 13 cm, (xviii) 550, 562, 514 et 530 pages (avec la table générale à la fin du dernier tome), illustré d'une gravure en frontispice du premier tome. Notre ensemble est en bon état ; les reliures montrent divers traces d'usure, quelques manques en tête de dos, d'ancienne étiquettes collées aux bas des dos, un début de craquelure à la charnière du premier plat du tome 3 dont le premier plat est fragilisé mais encore solide, et des cernes de mouillure aux plat du dernier tome (voir les images pour un aperçu général). Les intérieurs sont en très bon état. Comme il s'agit d'anciens exemplaires retiré d'une institution on trouvera quelques rares cahcets en début et fin de volumes et un vieil ex-libris sur les premiers contre-plats de couverture. Le dernier volume qui montre les cernes de mouillure ontre aussi un bon brunissement des marges des gardes mais pas les pages suivantes. Seule les dernières pages montrent un cerne de mouillure à la marge inférieure (sans gravité). Somme toute un ensemble dans un état bien acceptable. RARE dans cette édition.
