Bound in fine full contemporary red morocco, leafy gilt borders, smooth spine highly decorated in gilt, green morocco label (slightly toned); complete, with engraved portrait (usually lacking) on frontispiece, half title, and colophon leaf dated 1774 following De logarithmus. Very good copy with some very slight minor foxing. First edition; beautiful copy in great paper, of this posthumous work of Simson that brings together mathematical works of his authorship never published before. The edition was carried out by the Academy of Glasgow in homage to Simson and edited by Jacob Clow. It is divided into 5 parts: De Sectione determinata, De porismatibus, De logarithmis De Limitibus quantitatum et rationum and Appendix pauca continens problemata. 2 of them are reconstructions of lost texts of Euclides and Apollonius; other 2 are based on his lessons to students. Magnificently bound, with wide margins.
