".Apart from the instructional side, there were three experimental departments in Vernon - Whitehead, Mining and Electrical, although 'experimental' is perhaps an exotic word for Vernon's function of conducting users' trials and representing sea opinion. The Electrical Department, at least, did…do a good deal of experimental work. Torpedo trials were conducted from Stokes Bay, using destroyers of Vernon Flotilla. By the early thirties aircraft torpedo-running had started in Stokes Bay and gradually caused such congestion that surface torpedo-running was shifted to Weymouth.Ex military library stock so expect to see some markings and sparse annotations in the text. Binder in good condition with signs of sun-bleaching and light marking. Age-related wear. No Dust jacket. Quick flickthrough of text shows little in the way of annotation, and pages are only lightly discoloured. Some partial separation of pages. No other significant items of note other than initial library stamp/page removal. Overall acceptable condition. 1956 edition. Quick dispatch. Many thanks for looking and supporting independents.
