Hardcover. Condition: Good. Limited Edition. Two books of the fifteen-volume 'Author's Edition' of 'Darwin's Works.' #441 of 1,000 numbered copies. Boards show light overall wear; binding tight. Both inside covers have bookplates from Cornell University's Library of the Paleontological Research Institution; Vol. I has a library code as well, in ballpoint; neither volume has any further library markings. Vol. I's front endpaper bears the signature of Cornell professor Ruby Green Smith, a handful of pages in the middle are miscut along the leading edge (see photos), and a prior owner (Smith?) wrote penciled notes on the final two pages. Otherwise all pages in both volumes appear clean. Gilt top edge of text block. 4.6 pounds total. 558 and 562 pages.
