Add to basketOriginal Quarter Cloth hardbac. Condition: See Description. First Edition Thus. 1927. First edition thus. 290pp. The book is one of an edition limited to 1300 copies, but is unnumbered. Sir John Vanbrugh (1664-1726) was an English dramatist, architect and herald. He is probably best known today as the designer of Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard, but he also wrote many popular plays, some of which caused controversy at the time. The volume for sale is the third (of four) of a collection of Vanbrugh's works, and contains four of his plays, together with some account of the history of their production. The book is bound in the original blue paper covered boards with a blue cloth spine and a paper title label. This is an ex-library copy but has few library marks and is otherwise in very good condition. The case of the book has sme shelf wear with light soiling and there is a little damage and loss to the paper covering the corner tips. The spine ends are bumped and the spine is faded with a reference number written in black near the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean and the only library indications appear to be limited to two stamps and some reference numbers on the front fixed endpaper and the reverse of the title page. There are traces of a removed pocket on the front fixed endpaper. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
