Bound in the publisher's illustrated wraps, and housed in a quarter leather slipcase and cloth folder. Themwraps are slightly soiled, with an old bookseller's stamp on the front wrap. Bookplate on the first page of ads. Publish…er's original coupons and adverts still attached. The early 20th century slipcase is very lightly rubbed along the spine, which is titled in gilt. A very attractive, well preserved copy. The Gentleman's Magazine, May 1877, volume 240, no. 1755. Contains the first appearance of Swinburne's The Sailing of the Swallow, the first Canto of the full work, Tristram Of Lyonesse. Tristam, an epic length poem, contains 9 Cantos and a Prelude, and was first published (completely) in 1882, five years after this appearance of Sailing if the Swallow.
