Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. A rich, dark red coloured hardback book, with gilt title impressions on the spine and a castle impression on front board. No jacket, the book is in reasonably good condition. Normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. The boards are like faux leather, small rubbing and bumping to corners and edges. No published date, however all photographs used for the illustrations were taken before 1939, as the object of the book was to give the reader a permanent record of Romantic Britain before the outbreak of war during 1939. First blank page before title page is a personal pen inscription dated 25/12/45. Inside front and back boards are lovely images of rural village scenes in a green coloured print. Paper cover of binding has come away on first blank and title page, showing the binding gauze. 256 pages all intact, all pages, text and illustrations are in good, clean, readable order. A truly fascinating look at Britain from the early to mid-twentieth century.
