Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Portraits of the Artist in Exile: Recollections of James Joyce by Europeans, Edited by Willard Potts, Hardcover, First US Edition (1979). Book in very good condition, in a good unclipped dust jacket. The book has some bumping to the spine ends, with ageing and spotting to the page edges. The dust jacket shows wear and ageing, with some losses and rubbing to the extremities - noticeably the spine ends and hinge ends. The dust jacket is now encased in a protective removable plastic sleeve. A very good, tight copy overall. (See pictures). The European recollections compiled here, many of them appearing for the first time in English, span Joyce's exile, from his arrival in Pola in 1904 at the age of twenty-two until his death in Zurich nearly thirty-seven years later.
