Hardcover. Condition: Good. [Interesting provenance, previously owned by art critic and historian Edward F. Fry and his wife Gertrude.] Hardcover. Good binding and cover. Library stamps and markings. "In 1968 with a passion for the political arena Gertrude Brown (later Fry) joined the New York Campaign headquarters of Richard M. Nixon as a writer. When he won the Presidency, she was tapped to compose and send 'Thank You Letters' to all the world leaders who honored the President with gifts following his election and inauguration. This prestigious assignment earned her the position of staff assistant in the White House working directly for the President overseeing all official communication from within and outside the Executive Branch. Following her tenure at the White House serving both Presidents Nixon & Ford in 1977 when President Carter was inaugurated, she was charged with becoming 'custodian of the Nixon Administration Watergate tapes' until the Supreme Court decision was made in favor of government ownership later that year. In 1978 she joined the US Supreme Court as an assistant Marshall and Manager working directly for Chief Justice Warren Berger. In this capacity she was responsible for coordinating the administrative functions of all nine Justices on day to day court operations and special judicial activities including managing all aspects of official courtroom procedure." - Obit. Edward F. Fry was an art historian, a curator and a critic who specialized in 20th-century art. He was best known as an expert on Cubism, publishing a book on that art movement in 1966 that was admired by scholars for its meticulous research and often fresh material. He wrote and lectured on the subject throughout his career.
