J. Wealthy on the front cover. The covers are slightly rubbed and soiled and the corners are bumped. [50] unnumbered pages, with a full-page color frontispiece by Louis Wain and 49 vignettes, 14 of which are colored or tinted. Of the 49 vignettes, 34 are signed "Louis Wain" in the print and 15 are unsigned. The title page vignette is by "E. Ledward". The front hinge is cracked and the pages are slightly darkened. An early owner's inscription, dated "1917" is penned on the front endpaper. Very good. First edition.Though not listed as one of the book's illustrators, the majority of the illustrations are by Louis Wain and most are amusing depictions of cats & kittens.[Raphael Tuck No. 823].
