Published by Paris, P.F. Didot jeune, 1770, 1770
Seller: Jean-Pierre AUBERT, Quiberon, France
First Edition
Couverture rigide. Condition: Assez bon. Edition originale. Paris, P.F. REFERENCES pour les notes de Bourru : Hochberg LA : Thoracic Surgery Before the 20th Century, pp. 159, 378 : "Peyrenny cited Gilchrist as being the forerunner of Carson and Forlanini in suggesting therapeutic pneumothorax in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis; the suggestion belongs to the French translator (Bourru, 1770) and not to Gilchrist. Evidently Bourru took the liberty of adding his own opinions to the translation, of which therapeutic pneumothorax was but one such addition." ; Sakula A : Carlo Forlanini, inventor of artificial pneumothorax for treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.Thorax,1983, 38, 326-332: "That a pneumothorax might assist the healing of a tuberculous lung was first suggested in 1771 by Edmond Claud Bourru" ; Lindskog GE et al. : Thoracic and cardiovascular surgery with related pathology, p. 248. REFERENCES pour l'ouvrage de Gilchrist : Garrison & Morton, 11158: "Gilchrist recommended sea voyages as treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis and other diseases. Much expanded French translation by Edme-Claude Bourru as 'Utilité des voyages sur mer'. The translator added a recommendation of therapeutic pneumothorax in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculos; Heirs of Hippocrates, 874 (2nd ed.): "it discusses the merits and benefits of the air at sea, histories of cures resulting from exposure to the sea air, and the proper use of sea voyages for health purposes. The author added an appendix concerning the use of the bath in fevers and a supplement containing additional observations on the use of sea trips for health purposes."; Brown L: The story of clinical pulmonary tuberculosis, pp. 235-236 ; The Antiquity of the "sea voyage", The Lancet, vol. 2, part 2, p. 1679 : "One of the earliest in point of date to recommend sea voyages to consumptives and other invalids, such as nervous persons and convalescents, was Ebenezer Gilchrist"; Kevan SM: Quests for cures: a history of tourism for climate and health, Intern. J. biometeorology, 1993, 37, pp 113-124: "The first strong advocate of this form of therapy appears to have been Ebeneezer Gilchrist.".

First Edition
Pas de couverture. Condition: Bon. Edition originale.
