Le livre contient une double suite en plus des illustrations, ainsi qu'une page de titre en plus avec l'adresse d' Emile Testard à Paris. Il y a aussi le dessin de Léandre et une lettre de lui. L'édition originale de ''La famille Cardinal '' date de 1883 et décrit une famille de la petite bourgeoisie parisienne. L'auteur est surtout connu pour sa participation aux nombreux livrets d'opéra et opérettes, e.g. La Belle Hélène de Jacques Offenbach ; Carmen de Georges Bizet. Exemplaire en très bel état, témoin royal de cette grande tradition bibliophilique du livre français illustré à la fin du 19e siècle ; avec une reférence latérale à la bibliophilie belge à Bruxelles.
