Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is a rare publication containing An account of the parish and its inhabitants, and of all notable persons connected with the village for the space of 800 years by The Present Vicar. The book seems to have pasted in photographs of the village houses and places of interest. The bo…ok has been rebound in half bound leather with green cloth covers, gilt lettering and dec to spine, 249+4index, browning to f.f.e.p. With owners inscription for Martha Crane, frontise of The Church from the Vicarage Garden loose, some foxing to pages. Great Gransden's older centre consists of cottages grouped round a 16th-century church, dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, whose tower dates from about 1390. The connection between the village and Clare College, Cambridge appears to date from 1346, when the advowson for Great Gransden church parish formed part of the college's original endowment.
