Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) fu il primo a considerare le piante come essere sessuati e quindi a classificarle di conseguenza. Lavorando con la sua collezione di oltre 20000 esemplari prese da tutto il mondo, Linnaeus raggruppò le piante secondo il loro calendario di fioritura e la tipologia di organi atti alla proliferazione delineando una sorta di parallelismo fra gli organi delle piante e quelli umani. Edvard Koinberg fotografo svedese del 1964 ha ripreso questo punto di vista per realizzare la sua raccolta fotografica. Egli infatti ha creato una sorta di erbario fotografico basato sulla sensualità che anche i fiori possono esprimere. Queste sono le foto che anche Linnaeus avrebbe potuto fare se solo avesse avuto i mezzi tecnici.

Die fantasischen randlosen Fabtafeln zeigen Pflanzen oder Pflanzendeatails in Nahaufnahme. Als "Coffeetable-Book" ein absoluter Hingucker hat es erstaunlich konkreten paktischen Nutzwert. Mit Essays von Hening Mankell (Der Mann, der die Blumen liebte) und Tore Frängsmyr (LInné, der Systematiker). Das Buch folgt dem Blühkalender (Calendarium Florae) von Carl von Linné, 1756.
