"Gegen Ende des J. 1656 begleitete er den Grafen Octavio von Thurn und Taxis auf einer Reise nach Palästina, besuchte während eines 16-monatlichen Aufenthaltes die denkwürdigen Orte des Landes und kehrte sodann über Tyros und Zypern nach Venedig zurück. Seine Reise nach Palästina gab er unter dem Pseudonym Ignatius von Rheinfelden heraus" (ADB V, 675).
