Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 250 pages, half-leather binding with marbled paper over boards, five raised bands, and gilt titling to spine, 8.5" by 6". Text in Danish. Ultra-rare Danish book on World War II, the title translating as "Burning Earth: Southeast Europe in the Flames of the Great War." Illustrated with 47 black and white photos as well as nearly two dozen chapter headings, tailpieces, and full-page illustrations by Eastern European artists, including Ludwig Kozma, Josef von Divecky, and Gy Szabo Bela. Very scarce book - OCLC shows only a handful of copies in European holdings, and NO copies in American libraries. In excellent condition to boot - remarkably fresh and clean, with a solid binding and minor wear to the tips and the leather.
