He was born in Fauquier Co., Virginia and died in Platte Co., Missouri. He married (1) Jane Burnett (1797-1849), daughter of James Burnett and his third wife, Margaret Robinson, in Shelby Co., Kentucky, 1813; (2) Jane's niece, Elizabeth Ann (Burnett) May (1813-1885) in Clay Co., Missouri 1849. Elizabeth Ann was a daughter of George Burnett and Dorothy Hardeman, born in Nashville, Tennessee, died in Colusa Co., California. Early Cain and Burnett ancestors emigrated from Ireland. Descendants live in Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, California, Oregon, Nebraska and elsewhere.
