Manuscript / Paper Collectible
9 7/8" x 12 7/8" 11 leaves/11 pages (all loosely held between the pages of the scrapbook) of fabric and clothing appliqués, patches, tassels, and beading stapled to the page. Certain pages possess one individual piece while others vary. Fabric is held to the page by sewing pins and glue. The strategy varies. The covers are from a Victorian Scrapbook, with a few remnants from the first owner, including her name, Angie O. Bartlett of Belgrade, Maine, inside the front cover and inside the back cover are Victorian Trade cards glued to the page, including a calling card for the original owner. Writing on the inside also includes "Materials used for decoration on antique clothes. Started collecting this 1980. Elena Payson, Rockland, ME." Although this collection was started in 1980, it really comes from the early part of the 20th century.
