This is a mid-century collection of 21 French folk songs for children drawn from several regions of the country and Canada. Each song is presented on a two-page spread with the music on the left page and additional verses on the right. Ivanowsky provides colorful, fanciful drawings with birds and dancing animals (foxes, pigs, rabbits, etc.). WorldCat shows nine holdings in North America (OCLC #12936155) and three more at the Bibliothà que nationale de France (OCLC #659243186), the Bibliothà que et Archives nationales du Quà bec and the Biblioteca Nacional de España (OCLC #936616801). Size: Oblong 23 x 28 cm. 48 pages. Text is in French. Item Type: Book. The text block is tight bright and unmarked. The first and last page (the half title and printing notice) have some spotting and lines in a light brown (looking almost like birch bark), but all of the pages in between are clean and the colors are strong. Bound in illustrated textured paper over boards with red cloth for the spine. The paper is worn around the edges and the covers are grubby with some foxing. The boards are exposed at the top corners.
