Couverture souple. Condition: Bon. Edition originale. Elma Pratt (1888-1977) was a twentieth-century American painter, teacher of painting, and collector of folk art. Elma Pratt spent several years of her life traveling through Mexico, meeting different types of people and their cultures. Spending most of this time in the southe…rnmost parts of the country, near the Guatemalan border, it was the scenes and the people who became his subjects. With these paintings, Pratt was able to capture the Mexican people at their best. , from performing their daily rituals to the most obscure activities. She was able to appreciate the differences and similarities between the people she visited. She has produced silkscreen prints contained in luxurious paper portfolios such as Mexico in Color in 1947 and Guatemala in Color in 1958. These portfolios are composed of silkscreens depicting markets, festivals and costumes from Guatemalan and Mexican cultures with text from support in English. This silkscreen represents the Uruapan Market in Mexico.
