With the price of $2.00 at the top of the inside front flap. Two closed lateral tears along the spine, but not particularly noticeable beneath the Mylar when the jacket is on the book. And a 3" separation at the bottom of the rear jacket fold, but unnoticeable when the jacket is in place, as the paper edges meet seamlessly. A collector's copy, uncommon in dust jacket. "This is a biting attack upon the quackery in our political and intellectual life, a passionate defense of Reason, a counterblast to the fake eloquence of Spenglers Hour of Decision. It subjects fantastic bombast, whether in action or in theory, to a penetrating analysis. There is, in this appeal of a distinguished modern philosopher and man of letters, a full-bodied and sonorous eloquence which seems to recall the voice of a classic Roman senator warning of the approach of barbarian hordes and bending the weight and wisdom of years to a painful, imperative task. The author shows, first, that there has been a revolt against reason in modern times, and that such a revolt is always a symptom of the breakdown of a civilization and the return to the superstitions and emotions of savages or primitive men."
