Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 'Published for an exhibition in Frankfurt and Munich, 28. September 2000 - 21 January 2001. Bornegaleriwe im Museum Judengasse.' There is an introduction in English along with a piece on the Ringelblum Archive by Ruta Sakowska, also in English. Most of the descriptions throughout the book are in German. There are photographs, copies of documents, maps, drawings. This is an unusual copy. It's in a spiral binding. The book is quite rare. I'd couldn't find one in a spiral binding. It may have been put out prior to the publication of the actual book or it could have been a copy that someone created from the catalogue. I think it's the latter. It runs 90 pages. The binding is excellent. The front has a plastic cover. The rear cover is black. The pages are in very good shape. From the book: ' Along with the exhibition, a catalogue of 90 pages was published, in which the documents are presented and elaborated. Emanuel Ringelblum and his helpers are presented by means of short biographies. An extensive chronological table contextualizes the documents in view of the general history of the Warsaw ghetto.'.

Softcover. Condition: fair. First edition. First edition of this scarce and fascinating work on the Polish Jews in the Kosciuszko Insurrection of 1794. During the Kosciuszko Insurrection and wars against Tsarist Russia in 1794, Jews supported the uprising either in auxiliary services or in arms. For example they took part in the April revolution in Warsaw where many of them perished. After the Russian army was repulsed from Warsaw the idea was born to create a separate military unit composed of Jewish volunteers. This idea was backed by the commander in chief of the Insurrection, Tadeusz Kosciuszko. "Nothing can convince more the far away nations about the holiness of our cause and the justness of the present revolution," he wrote in a Statement on the Formation of a Regiment of Jews, "than that, though separated from us by their religion and customs, they sacrifice their own lives of their own free will in order to support the uprising." The Jewish regiment under Colonel Berek Josielewicz took part in the fighting during the storming of the Praga district of Warsaw by Tsarist troops on 4 November 1794. With the blood shed in this war they documented the loyalty of the Jewish population to the cause of the revolution and the slogans it upheld-equality and fraternity. Some age wear on wraps with spine missing and covers age-toned, chipped and detached (but present). Some age-toning throughout. Text in Hebrew. Wraps in overall fair, interior in good to good+ condition. About the author: Emanuel Ringelblum (1900-1944) was a Polish-Jewish historian, politician and social worker, known for his Notes from the Warsaw Ghetto, Notes on the Refugees in Zbaszyn chronicling the deportation of Jews from the town of Zbaszyn, and the so-called Ringelblum's Archives of the Warsaw Ghetto. He was murdered by the Gestapo in March, 1944.
