In Moholy-Nagy: Mentor to Modernism, Engelbrecht argues that Lászlà Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was the most rounded creative figure of the 20th century. In this comprehensive, fully documented biography, Engelbrecht discusses Moholyâs work as painter and print-maker; sculptor; photographer and maker of photo collages; film-maker and writer about film experimentation; graphic designer and writer about innovations in graphic design; stage, costume, interior, exhibition and product designer; pioneer in conceiving music made without voices or instruments; as well as lecturer, writer and editor with a strong interest in architecture and planning. Engelbrecht discusses the five crucial years, 1923 to 1928, during which Moholy taught at the German Bauhaus, opening up its opportunities for collaboration with industry.
