Maroon cloth rubbed and some light mottling; spine ends bumped with minor fraying; spine's gilt stamping still reasonably bright. Foxing and toning to edges and endpapers; four-line ink ownership inscription upon front pastedown; light foxing to early and late leaves with some scattered light occurrences to interior pages which otherwise remain clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy of an uncommon local history reference for west central and northwest Alabama. With Preface and Index. PART I comprised of Nelson Smith's 1856 History of Pickens County, Alabama (pages 11-131) with Part II (pages 133-221) comprised of 24 essays reviewing various facets of regional history. Although with no specific indicators per se (save for a single gilt star upon the spine) this is Volume I only of the "Annals of Northwest Alabama" series which is comprised of a total of four volumes.
