The book is bound in blue linen with titling stamped in bright gilt on front cover and spine.Tape residue marks on the covers. Foxing on the edges. Otherwise, pages are clean, tight smooth and unmarked. Endpapers decorated with a map of Penobscot Bay. The dust jacket is in fnear fine condition with very light shelf wear and a small library sticker on the spine panel near the bottom edge. . It is unclipped with no original price. Based largely upon the recollections of Captain Erland Quinn whose ancestor purchased Eagle Island in 1844. Erland lived on the Island until 1941 when he moved to Camden. Erland was Captain of the super yacht the Hippocampus owned by the Porter Family. The book describes the history of the Eagle Island and life on the island in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. Please see all images.

The book is bound in blue linen with titling in bright gilt on the front cover and spine. Very light shelf wear on the covers; tiny ding on the fore-edge of the front cover. Signed " Captain Erland Quinn" on the page after the ffe. Otherwise, pages are in pristine condition; clean, smooth and unmarked. The binding is firm. The dust jacket is in fair condition with a 1.5" closed tear on the bottom edge of the front panel, 1" closed tear on top edge front panel; tear on the back panel taped by a previous owner and a piece of the bottom edge of the back panel missing. It is unclipped with no original price indicated. Based largely upon the recollections of Captain Erland Quinn whose ancestor purchased Eagle Island in 1844. Hardcover with dustjacket, "a homey look at the way of life of the people who first settled the island and how their descendants live today," many illustrations and a 2-color end-paper map, book is in excellent condition, very mild rubbing to the corners of the cloth is the only remarkable flaw, the jacket has moderate edge-wear at the corners and along the folds and a few tiny blemishes on the rear panel, the jacket remains pleasing to the eye overall and a professional (removable) mylar cover is included.
