XXXii+448 pages with 23 full page steel engraved plates inc frontispiece (several of flies) and numerous woodcuts in the text and as head and tail pieces mostly by drawn by the author. The contents are lightly watermarked at plate edges on most plates, and pages feel handled, but text mostly clean and tight. The binding is a sort of amateur two-tone cloth boards with remains of paper label on spine and late 19th century?, the boards are perhaps the original? Thick small octavo. 1848. *The author was a fisherman born at Worksop with family in the cotton manufacturing, he was an artist and had many painting exhibited and sold.
