Loose volumes contain: v. 74 (1899); 87-99 (1913-1925); 101-110 (1929-1932). The Friend was created under the auspices of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends (Quakers). Frank Luther Mott's A History of American Magazines, 1741-1850 discusses this publication in depth on pages 562-565.
