Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Undated. Undated, 7 3/8" x 5" x 1" hardcover in illustrated butternut colored paper covered boards with black line drawing of two children sitting on a grassy knoll, one pointing at the sun rising over the horizon. Title and author above this drawing, and Sunshine Series imprinted below where the kiddos are seated. Ink 1942 Christmas gift dedication written on otherwise blank fep. A presentable hardcover which happens to be the first listed in the Sunshine Series title list imprinted on the lower corner-clipped rear dj flap. 96 pp text is crisp and bright without any tears or writing but is foxed on the edge of the page block. Pages are quite heavy gauge stock, barely bend in your hand whence you are turning the leaves. B/W drawn frontis illustration is printed on thinner, glossy stock, and there are no other illustrations. Original, price-clipped, color illustrated dj has color loss and 2 small chips, one at front panel/spine fold, the other at foot of frt panel, near frt gutter. Jacket shows some foxing on the beige areas of the background as well as moderate soil on the white background rear panel that lists many other books published by Pickering & Inglis Ltd. The dust jacket is now in new mylar that has a white paper backside. The two chips mentioned above have the white paper from the DJ backing that shows through, touched up with peace colored pencil in attempts to match to the beige background also previously mentioned. All in all, a nice copy that displays well on the shelf. A story of simple faith and trust which has as its centre life in the American West, with its ranches and log cabins. Greata, the heroine, is called to pass through sorrows and perplexities, but her strong faith in God enables her to overcome all difficulties, until at last she reaps the reward of her steadfastness. A charming story of home life on the range with a healthy Christian influence which will be greatly enjoyed and appreciated by any young boy or girl desirous of having pleasure and profit from what they read.
