Ee…n arbeidersstaking mondt uit in geweld. Winkels worden geplunderd. 'De macht van het noodlot is voor eenieder onontkoombaar.' De woorden van Boyo's vader klinken onheilspellend. In zijn oude vissersboot zet Boyo koers richting Venezuela, weg van een brandend Cura?ao, samen met zijn vriend Kai, de visser. En met hun tot de rolstoel veroordeelde vriend JonJon, die zelf zijn leven al te lang vindt duren.In Tucacas wil Boyo een nieuwe, polyester boot uit ??n mal laten maken. Hij studeerde tandheelkunde in Nederland, werkte enige tijd aan een universiteit in New York en keerde daarna definitief terug naar Cura?ao. Het hiernamaals van Do?a Lisa is zijn eerste roman.; Puntgaaf ex., ongebroken rug, schoon en fris.

This is a tale of a failed attempt to escape Trinta di Mei, the postcolonial revolt of May 30, 1969, on the Du…tch Caribbean island of Curaçao.
