1st edition in the "Gyldendals Reisebibliothek" series. 192 PP, plus 8 pages with 9 b/w photos. Hard covers, decorated front and back, gilt title on cloth spine. Covers rubbed on edges. Note at top corner of front endpaper. Norwegian text. Faint old watermark along top margin, not affecting any text and overall a very good clean copy. 20.5 x 12. Experiences in North Borneo between 1934 and 1939.

In overall very good used condition in a good dust jacket with minor signs of age, handling and storage - dust jacket rubbed to edges with a couple of nicks and chips (now protected); red cloth boards slightly rubbed to edges but remain overall clean and crisp. Internally clean. Binding tight and appears little read; no annotation or inscriptions - owners name neat to front endpaper; slight toning to page-ends but text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Not an old library book.

Page edges foxed. The author return to Indonesia in 1947 after 2 years enforced absence and rejoining his Javanese wife. They travel to the interior of New Guinea and he recounts tribal customs, ritual and orgiastic dances and witch-doctor rule among the cannibal tribe, along with his own almost incredible adventures. Size: 8vo.

"OT: Vildarna finns i väst"; Krieg auf Java? (damals Niederländisch-Indien/Insulinde, heute Indonesien; und Neuguinea: Kampong-Bahro, Atinjoe liegen auf der Reiseroute des Verfassers. Der schwedische Autor fährt nach Kriegsende wieder nach Java, um seine Frau, eine Malaiin, zu suchen. Trotz der entsetzlichen Verwirrungen, die Krieg und Nachkrieg anrichteten, findet er sie wohlbehalten wieder und nimmt an ihrer Seite seinen alten Beruf als Forstfachmann wieder auf. Gemeinsam bereisen sie nicht nur Java, sondern auch Neuguinea (die Vogelkopfhalbinsel im Westen). Sein Auftrag ist es, das kostbare Teakholz von Eingeborenen schlagen zu lassen und neue Wälder anzulegen.
