To include latest developments and insights, the author will reference publications by standardization bodies, the Big Four audit firms as well as consulting companies, among others.At first, the foundational framework will be established, including an overview of available financing methods and a definition on what is commonly understood by external as well as internal financing. The following sub-chapter drills deeper into the matter by defining what leases are and how they can be classified into different types. For that reason, operating and financial leases will be distinguished with reference to common accounting standards. Additionally, a practical example will illustrate this distinction. This is closely followed by the definition of sale and leaseback transactions including the prime characteristics of it. Also, a practical example will ensure clearer understanding.In the main part the pros of sale and leaseback will be assessed from the perspective of the seller as well as from buyer of the assets. The associated cons will be analyzed thereafter. Another practical example will serve to complement this section.In the next chapter the possible effects of changing regulations, laws and accounting practices regarding leases and SLBT's will be outlined. This includes a practical example to illustrate and explain the effects of the new accounting standard 'IFRS 16 Leases' on this subject from different perspectives. In a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) business context, these are key to stay competitive and to lay solid foundations for future growth.To facilitate this, organizations have strived to make their processes as efficient and effective as possible. Remarkably, they have yet not unlocked the improvement potential that is associated with business meetings.As a matter of fact, business meetings have not only become an indisputable part of daily business operations all around the world, but also a subject that is often perceived as costly, unproductive and dissatisfying.The purpose of this work is to both advance the current research on business meetings at the intersection with leadership and provide actionable insights for businesses on how to enhance their organizational performance in practice.By using a quantitative study to analyze 301 responses gathered from an online survey and test associated hypotheses, insights about the current state of meeting usage and their implications on organizational performance, based on perceived meeting satisfaction and outcomes, were identified.Essentially, when trying to optimize their performance trajectory, organizations need to focus on a triad of meeting performance, consisting of meeting design, behavior and communication, and meeting technology.If the insights are taken seriously and the suggested solutions are implemented in practice holistically, organizations will have the opportunity to reap the benefits of enhanced performance while cutting costs by around USD 8.5 million annually.

Die Einführung im Schiffsmarkt ist eine Herausforderung, da Hürden wie besonders hohe Anforderungen an die Maschinen, spezielle Gegebenheiten und eine konservative Markthaltung, bestehen.Die Analyse behandelt sukzessive technisch-physikalische Grundlagen, Unterschiede sowie Vor-und Nachteile der konventionellen und der HTS-Maschinen. Danach werden technisch und ökonomisch sinnvolle Anwendungsmöglichkeiten aufgezeigt. Die Voraussetzungen und Rahmenbedingungen zur Strategieentwicklung werden in Kapitel 5 erläutert. Nachfolgend wird diese an einem praxisnahen Beispiel entwickelt und gezeigt, welche Grundsatzentscheidungen wie zu treffen sind und wie mögliche Handlungsempfehlungen aussehen können.Der Lösungsvorschlag besteht in der Kombination von einer Pionier- mit einer Nischenstrategie im Marktsegment der Energieerzeugungssysteme im Megawattbereich von neu gebauten Chemikalientankern in Südkorea. Die Differenzierung erfolgt u.a. über die Effizienz der HTS-Maschinen und der resultierenden Betriebskostenminimierung als Wettbewerbsvorteil für Reeder. Der Direktvertrieb erfolgt regional organisiert zunächst an den Systemintegrator. Die Positionierung als Gesamtlösungsanbieter wird durch Vorwärtsintegration desselben erreicht.
