Sie ist eine der ältesten Bibliotheken Deutschlands. Ihr Hau…ptgebäude ist die Bibliotheca Albertina. . (wiki) // . Die Gründung einer gemeinschaftlichen poetischen Bibliothek war schon von der Deutschübenden Poetischen Gesellschaft 1719 beschlossen worden. Der erste Katalog dieser Sammlung erschien 1724 und enthält den Nachweis für rund 1000 Bücher. Der im Statut von 1727 geforderten Erweiterung der Bibliothek entsprach ein zweiter, systematisch angeordneter Bücherkatalog, in den "Nachrichten" von 1731 veröffentlicht. Der weiterhin gewachsene, nach 175o im wesentlichen aber wohl nur noch erhaltene Bibliotheksbestand wurde 1827 von Stadtrat Heinrich Blümner, 1813 bis 1831 zugleich Vorsteher der Stadtbibliothek und eines der beiden letzten Mitglieder der Deutschen Gesellschaft, der Stadtbibliothek Leipzig übergeben. Seit 1962 hat die Bibliothek der Deutschen Gesellschaft - Bibliotheca Societatis Teutonicae ( BST ) - nach einem Beschluß des Rates der Stadt Leipzig ihren Standort in der Universitätsbibliothek, der Karl-Marx-Universität Leipzig bekommen. Dem Standortkatalog des Jahres 1724-, der den Bestand nach den Buchformaten - in Polio, in Quarto, in Octavo, in Duodecimo -trennt und nach dem Verfassernamen alphabetisch ordnet und aufstellt, folgte das systematische Verzeichnis von 1731 mit den Gruppen: "Weltliche Poeten - Geistliche Gedichte - Schauspiele -Romane und Fabeln - Satiren - Moralische Schriften - Poetische Anweisungen - Regeln und Exempel der Beredsamkeit - Historien -Prosaische Schriften - Prosaische und Poetische Übersetzungen -Des Deutschen Frauenzimmers Poetisch-prosaische und übersetzte Schriften - Historisch-Critische Schriften - Grammatische Schriften - Lexika & Etymologioa - Vermischte Prosaische Schriften - Exotica" und kennzeichnet so Absicht und Abgrenzung der Sammlungsaufgaben der Bibliothek. Einen vollständigen alphabetischen Katalog hat erst Ernst Kroker, Leiter der Leipziger Stadtbibliothek von 1911 bis 1924, geschaffen. Neben seinen Arbeiten zur Stadt- und besonders der Handelsgeschichte Leipzigs und den Quelleneditionen zur Reformationsgeschichte hat Kroker in der Erschließung wertvoller alter Bibliotheksbestände Bleibendes geleistet. Sein Katalog ist mit seinen diplomatischen Titelbeschreibungen, seinen buchkundlichen Erläuterungen, seinen Auflösungen zahl-reicher Pseudonyme und Anonyme, seinen Dotierungen der Provenienzen ein mustergültiges Beispiel bibliothekarischer Akribie. Wissenschaftlicher Forschung wird dieser, nun erstmals gedruckte Katalog eine wertvolle Hilfe sein. Aus herstellungstechnischen Gründen mußte für die Vervielfältigung des handgeschriebenen Kataloges das fotomechanische Druckverfahren über eine Schreibsatz-Vorlage gewählt werden. (aus d.
