Die vorliegende Arbeit, in der zum erstenmal eine Deutung von Benns gesamtem Werk versucht wird, dient daher nicht nur dem an den Dichtungen Benns liebhabermäßig Interessierten oder der Benn-Forschung, sondern der Betrachtung moderner Dichtung überhaupt, indem sich im Laufe der Untersuchung notwendig neue Betrachtungsweisen einstellen, welche über den Rahmen des Werkes von Gottfried Benn hinaus für das, was wir moderne Dichtung nennen, allgemein Gültigkeit haben.
