Appleton wrote candidly about his own experiences and the men who served with and under him, including troop punishments, combat, and combat injuries, including his own. He also described in detail the weather, climate, southern geography, and his interaction with civilians. Appleton served with the regiment from February 1863 through August 1864, when severe injuries forced him home a second time. All Gave Some, Some Gave All: North Georgia College Killed in Action: Vietnam, Updated Edition shares the stories of twenty-nine men who lost their lives serving our country during the Vietnam War. They fought not only for your freedom, but also for the freedom of the South Vietnamese people, and ultimately for liberty everywhere. Each of these twenty-nine men attended North Georgia College (NGC), now known as the University of North Georgia (UNG), where they received excellent military training, build strong values of integrity and service, developed leadership skills, and formed lifelong friendships. Though they are no longer with us, through their stories, their legacy lives on.Each story is special, sharing about the person, their heroic military service, and their fate.
