Small Quarto. 101 [3]pp. Original yellow cloth with red lettering and design on covers, red lettering on spine, protected by modern mylar. Black endpapers. Typography and design by Moholy-Nagy. A cutout (7 7/8 x 5 3/8") of original dustjacket in three colors laid in, containing the descriptive text. Contains two essays by Albert Gleizes: "The History of Cubism (1928)," with 47 full page reproductions of artwork, and "Cubism, A New Conscience of Form," an attempt of generalization (1926). The artwork presented in this volume includes works by Georges Braque (4), Robert Delauny (2), Albert Gleizes (5), Juan Gris (2), Auguste Herbin (2), Le Fauconnier (2), Fernand Léger (6), Louis Marcoussis (3), Jean Metzinger (3), Pablo Picasso (4), Jacques Villon (2), Georges Valmier (2), Marcelle Cahn (1), Otto Carlsund (1), Franciska Clausen (1), Emil Filla (1), Florence Henry (1), E. Hone (1), M. Jellett (1), Yanaga Posnansky (1), and Robert Pouyaud (1). Contains two pages of advertisements at rear. One page with 14 Bauhaus books, and one page for the Bauhaus magazine. Slight bump at lower foredge corner throughout first essay and first three art plates. Minor wear to binding.
