The second edition, here retitled from the original "Touching Second". One of the keystone titles of early baseball, an anecdotal how-to from the Chicago Cubs second baseman and middle man of the famed "Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance" double play combination. Evers, known as "The Crab" as much for his personality (he was not on speaking terms with Mr. Tinker) as for his scuttling fielding style, was highly if grudgingly respected by players of his era for his brainy "inside" style of play. The full page photo illustrations include Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, teammate Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown and others.
