Scarce, price-clipped, red background color illustrated dust jacket shows chips and color loss but is 85% complete and displays ok in new mylar. Eric Morrison is a Doctor by profession and a hunting man for sheer love of the sport. He has kept both hare and fox hounds for a very long time in a variety of circumstances and he gives the reader a host of practical hints of the kind that generally do not find their way into books, such as how to persuade a foster mother to take whelps from your best bitch, or how to deal quickly with a hound that falls down in a fit out hunting. His advice on kennel discipline, feeding, walking hound puppies, drafting hounds and his views on performance and characteristics of various strains will be found exceedingly interesting. His notes on good and bad manners in hunting will be found invaluable to beginners and his anecdotes of hounds he has known are delightful.

This is new old stock with some faint discoloration from storage on the stapled spine edge. No tears, marks or dog eared pages. This is a 28 pp, 8.5" x 5.5" blue card cover book that has a b/w illustration of a handsome dog fox in the snow on the frt cover. These are the last copies I have. Gilt spine title bright, cloth slightly sunned, few insignificant white marks on cloth (1 on frt, 1 on spine, 1 on rear). #437 of 935 copies. Signed by the author on the fep and contains 15 illustrations by Lida Lacey Bloodgood. There is no dust jacket but it does have it's nice salmon colored cardboard slipcase that has a complete pasted-on illustrated paper label and shows light, even handling soil. It has a small repaired split at one end of the opening, but no rubbing wear and displays very well on the shelf. This noted sidesaddle horsewoman author of the early 20th century shares her sometimes death-defying escapades afoot and aside in the hunting field and other equine pursuits. Signed.

This is an embellished copy of the frontispiece. Spine has new brown buckram with bright gilt title and author. Book tips were built up under the beige covers when rebound, boards show a few light soil marks, a few light indentations at fore edges of covers, spine ends straight, board tips are sharp. 150pp text has new beige linen endpapers and white paper 2nd endpaper. An occasional small finger print or soil mark does not obscure any of the story. Includes a black and white frontispiece and four other full page b/w plates. No tears, no names, just the number 50019 written in blue ball point at foot of last page. Some fading to the green cloth margins. And offsetting to the endpapers, corners pushed inwards. Name stamp of Lord de Mauley , and author's printed compliments slip tipped onto the front free endpaper. Overall a very good copy, quite sound inside and out.
