Beautiful blue velvet cover hardback edition housed in its original matching blue slip case. The slip case does have some spots along with shelf wear on the front cover but it has protected the book itself nicely. Some slight foxing on the front end paper and page edges of the book. The remainder of the interior is flawless. 56 double-leaved pages. Decorated with gold-stamped Kiddush Goblet motif. Illustrated and executed by Arthur Szyk and edited by Cecil Roth. Inside of front and back board illustrated with b/w reproduction of a drawing by Szyk. Beautiful color frontispiece along with many color heavily embellished illustrations throughout. Does have a gift inscription on front title page. Text in English and Hebrew. This edition is renowned for its luxurious presentation. Large format, bound in deep blue velvet with bright gold decoration and title on spine, bright gold illustration of a kiddush cup on the front and rear covers, beautiful color illustrations throughout and beautifully-illustrated end-papers, the Hebrew text is embedded in the illustrations and the English text is on each facing page, the book is in excellent condition with no remarkable flaws, housed in a felt-lined, leatherette over cloth clamshell slipcase which has about seven small white spots on the front of the cloth. It is otherwise clean and presentable. PLEASE NOTE: The only publishing date listed on this copy is 1939, it is visible on our photo of the color frontispiece.
