Uno sguardo su Salonicco tra la fine dell'Ottocento e gli inizi del Novecento, con le inconfondibili prospettive su mura, chiese, mosaici, arredi marmorei bizantini: questo emerge dal catalogo della mostra "Impressioni bizantine. Salonicco attraverso le immagini fotografiche e i disegni della British School at Athens (1888-1910)", organizzata dal Dipartimento di Storia Culture e Civiltà dell'Università di Bologna in collaborazione con l'Università di Salonicco, la British School at Athens, e l'Associazione Italo Britannica di Bologna. Il testo contiene fotografie e illustrazioni di Salonicco eseguite dagli architetti inglesi Robert Weir Schultz e Sidney Howard Barnsley, che visitarono il centro urbano nel 1888 e nel 1890 per motivi di studio. Agli inizi del XX secolo il loro lavoro fu continuato dagli allievi Walter S. George e William Harvey: l'insieme del materiale costituisce oggi una sezione importante dell'archivio della British School at Athens. These conferences, are, however, focused on disseminating the latest scientific results rather than providing in-depth education in the field of optical chemical sensors. In qualità di massimo filosofo della scienza italiano del secondo dopoguerra ha rappresentato un punto di riferimento privilegiato, perché ha sviluppato una riflessione critico-razionalistica aperta, costruttiva e problematica, nel momento stesso in cui indagava i complessi nessi tra conoscenza e società civile. Il volume raccoglie gli atti del convegno svoltosi a Milano il 29 novembre 2001, nel decennale della scomparsa di Geymonat (1908-1991), cui hanno partecipato diversi studiosi: Fulvio Papi parla di un illuminista a Milano, Evandro Agazzi colloca il pensiero di Geymonat nella cultura filosofica del Novecento; Fabio Minazzi indaga le aporie della ragione nell'epistemologia di Geymonat; Gabriele Lolli ricostruisce il contributo matematico di Geymonat; F. William Lawvere testimonia del suo incontro con Geymonat nel 1977. Mario Capanna parla di Geymonat il contestatore, mentre Franco Cambi delinea il perimetro del contributo di Geymonat alla scuola italiana.
