In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards.With a letter from Esmond de Beer (1879-1960) a distinguished bibliophile and scholar, best known as President of the London Topographical Society, the publisher's of this work, and donor of the celebrated De Beer Collection of manuscripts and rare books to the British Library, donating one of the great scholarly manuscript collections of the 20th century.A facsimile of this work first published in 1693, a fascinating guide to London in the seventeenth century, providing a unique insight into the capital city in the Stuart era.Main text of the work in French, commentary in English.Edited by Walter Godfrey, an architect and topographical historian.Originally written by F. Colsoni. In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. The odd spot to boards. Fading to upper extremities boards, more so to rear. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, more so to upper right corner of front board. One or two spots to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. pages bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves. Letter from Esmond de Beer loosely inserted. Very Good. book.
