From the opening paragraph, "It was a yellow apron that beguiled us into Dalecarlia, an apron of deep rich orange-yellow, hanging in soft folds from the waist of a peasant woman who strode sturdily through the streets of Stockholm." Octavo, 8 1/4" tall, xiii + 328 pages with inter-textual black and white illustration, silver and gilt titles and decorations on brown cloth. In good condition over all, generally clean, light exterior soiling with moderate, shelf wear but fraying to the spine cloth at top and bottom edges and a short split started at the rear hinge; hinges and binding solid, paper light to moderately yellowed, but with foxing to the endpapers and some foxing lightly scattered throughout. Without dust jacket.
