This has Shipton's arcticle on 1957 Karakoram expedition, Santa Marta Range of Colombia by Echevarria, 2nd ascent of Minya Konka by Chan-Chan, Masherbrum 1957 expedition by Walmsley, first ascent of Rakaposhi by Brooke. Articles include an account of the first party to set out from Africa to travel and mountaineer in Nepal, Monica Jackson's account of the 1955 Scottish Women's Himalayan Expedition, Alfred Gregory's account of the 1955 Merseyside Himalayan Expedition, an account of an expedition by the RAF Mountaineering Association to the Lahoul Himalaya, Hewitt's account of the second attempt on Masherbrum, accounts of exploration in the French Alps, an article on Hannibal's crossing of the Alps and a tongue-in-cheek consideration of 'The Abominable Snowman'.
