He worked as an illustrator, and later served as an art director at San Jose's Muirson Label Company circa 1914-1966. After retiring, he began writing books (many humorous) and map posters on the history of the Santa Clara Valley, illustrated with his original pen and ink cartoons. Rambo had a large local following, who often corresponded with him, and he collaborated with other individuals and groups interested in local history. Rambo's design was featured on the First Civil Settlement in California U. S. Postage stamp in 1977. He died in Palo Alto, CA on May 19, 1990. " (from Online Archive of California).

"R…alph Rambo (18941990) was a San Jose (California) historian. He wrote 14 books about life in the Santa Clara Valley in California. He was born in San Jose, California on May 16, 1894 and died in Palo Alto, California on May 19, 1990. His books were extremely colorful and, according to the author, loosely recounted his experiences growing up during the pioneer days in the area. Ralph Rambo's profession was a graphic artist. He was the Art Director for Muirson Label Company for almost fifty years. His illustrations are quite vivid, often hand-lettered in an entertaining or comics fashion. He merged humor with history in order to convey historical value of his stories." (from PeoplePill); Signed by Author. Illustrated by Ralph Rambo (illustrator).
