"Morgan's Raid" had been carried out against orders, losing most of his men and eventually surrendering at Salineville, Ohio. He eventually escaped from the Ohio State Penitentiary. The Reverend… Faunt LeRoy Senour was an Indiana author and minister who moved from Indiana in pursuit of higher education. He wrote several books about the Civil War including this one and one on General Sherman. According to the text, Rev. Senour attended Hanover College with Morgan in 1842.
