Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Blue cloth boards with gilt blocked titles to spine, 200 x 140 mm approx. x + 150 pp. Frontis + 14 other illustrations on 8 plates as called for. First Printing 1939. Contains an interesting account of life in the parish by a former rector 1656-1680 (Giles Moore Day Book) as well as extracts from the parish registers which accordingly makes mention of events in the parish as well as births deaths and marriages. The copy offered is inscribed and signed by the author to the front free end paper. Previous owner name in blue ink to front paste down under flap fold and a post card pasted in at p 129 of the pulpit in the church has a note in the same hand underneath - Pulpit carved by grandfather- Louis Wyatt. Additionally there is a typewritten copy of notes made Dec 1939 of finds made by Eardley confirming his belief of a connection between two cottages in Church Lane and the Old Marie de Bradehurst (Broadhurst) Chapel at the Parish Church. This would have been too late for inclusion in the book, a printed two page note of a visit made by him by cycle in June 1939 to Rouen and Caen, 6 post cards and two colour photographs of St Giles Church which together form an interesting collection of associated material relating to the parish and the Wyatt's estates. VG/Good (Book - mild shelf wear and fading to cloth at extremities, previous owner name as above and top margin of front free end paper cut out. Author insc. and signature under, post card pasted in as above + evidence that some of the postcards were similarly pasted into the book at subsequent pages with further ink notes pertaining. Binding sound. Dust Jacket- a few chips, nicks, loss and general shelf soiling. Now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve). Please see our images of the actual book and ephemera offered for sale for further details and condition. Signed by Author(s).
