L'indagine dell'artista, infatti, à radicata proprio nella forza ancestrale della Natura, nel suo potenziale creativo e al contempo distruttivo. The Teaching Tree à una manifestazione dell'irrefrenabile spirito creativo: l'incarnazione di un'immaginazione vivente, che cresce nonostante gli insegnamenti che cercano di abbatterla. Qualsiasi restrizione alla mente umana crea solo un terreno fertile per forme di espressione pià forti e resilienti. Il catalogo documenta l'installazione con suggestive fotografie e, pià in generale, permette di conoscere l'opera di Shono attraverso saggi critici e un'intervista all'artista. I contributi approfondiscono alcuni aspetti caratterizzanti dell'opera, come l'impiego del colore nero, l'utilizzo della linea, il riferimento a figure storiche e mitologiche e il ricorso alla tecnologia, nonchà l'idea di giardino come luogo creativo. Muhannad Shono à un artista visuale originario dell'Arabia Saudita. Le sue opere si caratterizzano per un approccio multidisciplinare e dalla sua caratteristica di sfruttare il potere della narrativa per mettere in discussione alcune verità personali, storiche e collettive. La lunga storia di migrazione e repressione della sua famiglia ha definito il suo rapporto con lo spazio e con il concetto di libertà espressiva. Col suo lavoro ha provato quindi a rispondere a queste rigide condizioni creando mondi nuovi e spingendo al limite le potenzialità dell'immaginazione. Shono ha sviluppato il proprio vocabolario visivo e uno stile inimitabile, versatile e disinibito. Le sue opere sono state presentate in tutto il mondo: dai disegni intimi, alle opere scultoree su larga scala, fino a pezzi robotici e tecnologici.
