Piccoli fori di tarlo alle prime carte ma ben conservato e completo delle brossure originali, scritta dell'autore in copertina. Il Prefetto Falconcini fu esonerato dall'incarico dopo solo 5 mesi incapace di gestire la difficile provincia siciliana alla fine del 1862. Oltre alla evasione di 127 carcerati, vi furono problemi politici a Racalmuto e Canicattì che portarono il Falconcini a decretare lo stato d'assedio. Il Falconcini descrive la difficilissima situazione sociale che, in quel periodo di importanti cambiamenti, non facilitò sicuramente l'opera del Prefetto. L'autore, già deputato del Parlamento italiano, in queste pagine accusa apertamente il governo e riporta la protesta degli agrigentini "Le leggi un dì del Piemonte sono fatali alla Sicilia.
